In today’s ever changing global climate personal safety is becoming increasingly important. Protect yourself through increased awareness and avoidance strategies and de-escalation tactics. Learn what to do when these options fail by applying simple self defense techniques that work under a variety of different assault scenarios. Preparedness is paramount.

The area of self defense can be a confusing one. There are many different martial arts systems, courses, and workshops offering self defense training in one form or another. Some are better than others. Techniques that are too complicated or use primarily fine motor skills will likely fail when needed the most due to the physiological effects of adrenalin stress.

Techniques should be based on simple, gross motor based, movements and should be functional for a variety of different assaults. Training must also consider the legal aspects of self defense and the use of reasonable force.

Chad Barry has 19 years of martial arts and self defense training. He has been teaching for over 15 years. His holds a Master level ranking in two systems and Black Belt ranking in two additional systems. He is also a certified Skill Level Four Bojuka Self Defense instructor. The Bojuka Self Defense system is an effective and easy to learn, reality based self defense system. It is so effective that the system’s founder Tom Schrenk was hired by and currently works for the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) as a Tactical Defense Instructor.

Chad teaches a fusion of the Bojuka Self Defense System and humane pressure point tactics at his studio in Chatham, Ontario and at seminars, and conferences in Canada and the United States. His ability to communicate with large and small groups from many different walks of life and ages make his courses an enjoyable and educational experience for everyone.
